The nicest man in the entire world works there. You will know what I mean if you go there.
This place looks tiny from the outside, but you will be amazed when you go in... it looks like a Middle Eastern souq! It's a long, thin store with a dazzling array of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and South Asian foods. Don't miss the selection of baklava-s and other yummy desserts - they're delicious.
most incredible array of e mediterrean. cool owner. best humus in vic.
I buy my groceries there regularly. They have many items I cannot find anywhere else, such as rose pedal jam, sour cherry jam, and tarama. They have the most complete selection of spices in town. I like to get spice whole so that I can grind them in my pestle and mortar. They have fresh local eggs and dairy products as well and middle eastern style breads, such as pita. And as everyone mentions, they have the most amazing treats in town, baklava and turkish delights, organic dried fruits and nuts, etc. They also make the most delicious foods to go, such as samosas, and meat pies, and they serve delicous spreads that go perfectly with their breads, such as babganoosh, spiced feta spread, and humus. If you go through life without this store, than you are missing some of life's greatest pleasures.
Just went for the first time yesterday. The other reviewers are spot on with their assessments. Enormous selection of interesting foods from the Mediterranean, Middle East, Iran, and India. Almost missed it, as I had been directed to the 'Mediterranean Deli' by a shopowner on Fort Street, and the actual name is Blair Mart. Even the people 3 doors away didn't know what I was looking for. I bought lots of odds and ends, spices I had only read about in recipes but never cooked with. i will be back!
This is an excellent store, with good prices on quality food and really friendly service. It also has some of the best deli selections (many vegetarian and vegan options) and home made Turkish Delight. I highly recommend it.
I agree. He and his wife are always always kind to me. Gracious and generous people, I just love them:)
What a fine gentleman!! and the food selection is remarkable. How good to have another authentic ethnic deli in Victoria, there are all too few of these in our city. they are one of the few perks I miss since leaving Toronto.
One of the few sources in town for multiple spices you cant find elsewhere, whole, ground, etc. Olive oils, flatbreads, coffee, olives, pomegranate sauce, real Turkish delight, tomato paste, teas, lentils, beans, etc. Tiny storefront is deceptive, the store goes to the back of the property and the owners are truly gracious, yup, an old fashioned word....gracious. If you found Mcdonalds keep going, they are mere yards/metres further down the street on Pandora, same block and same side.
